At the beginning of the summer, I worried that any pool time we had would be spent hangin' on the steps, because that was all Montana was comfortable with. Regardless the flotation device (and we tried a lot), she didn't feel comfortable going out "into the big circles" (meaning, anywhere she couldn't touch). After her friend Kami took swimming lessons and learned to swim with nothing, I debated putting her in swim lessons. But when I asked Montana, and she screamed "No", I saw my money flushing down the toilet and signed her up for a ballet class instead.
However, a few weeks ago, at a friends pool, she decided she'd try floating with a life jacket and dabbled a little in that, still over the part where she could touch. Then on Monday at her Grandparents house, she saw all her cousins swimming and some wearing floaties and decided to try them. After swimming some with Pompy, her grandpa, she became more comfortable with swimming over "the big circle" of the spa with floaties on. Then at our friends house that week, she shocked me when she just swam out into the open water of the pool with her floaties, and since she has been unstoppable. On Saturday at her grandparents, she was even jumping off the sides into the pool. She'll be swimming in no time at this rate.
Check out our little fishy...
Also, this weekend my brother and his wife surprised us all by driving down from Utah. We had fun swimming in Uncle Merlin's pool and Carson got some uncle bonding time:

Happy Monday!

That is SO Nice! Our little ones are used to the lifevest because they get out on the boat so much so we are lucky, but we worry about wasting money on swim lessons too... we signed her up for soccer instead... LOL!
