Lately, she has been obsessed with rhyming. Sounds like a great thing right? Well, it is, until you are the idiot mommy who teaches her a rhyming song...ya know the one that goes like this.... "Tana, Tana bo bana...banana fana fo fana...fee fie mo mana...Tana". It's a cute one, but...has potential for some very bad words.
And let me tell you, I never saw this coming. She started singing it for everything. And ninety nine percent of it was adorable, completely swear word free, rhyming fun.
But then she found the work "Yucky." And then "Duck". And well, you get the picture. Yikes. One time she even said it front of Daddy and he was mortified and said, "No more rhyming." We quickly changed our minds because we know rhyming is a crucial step to reading and learning sounds. We just tell her to be careful with those words and especially ones with an "F" sound because the words "aren't very nice".
She's absolutely clueless, as she should be and really it's a harmless slip up...but, I just am trying to rectify this situation so that she doesn't drop the "F" bomb at a play date. Ya know what I'm sayin'?
There were many other ways I could have taught her to rhyme...but it's too late. The song has stuck, and now this mom feels like a "Dope, Dope bo bope...banana fana fo...fope, fee fie mo mope...DOPE!"
Here is our princess playing dress up at Grandma and Grandpa's...

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!! Kids are so funny. Don't be too hard on yourself. Cade was a late talker and had a hard time with the t sound and used to say "Look at the FIRE_UCK!" Whevever a truck went by, firetruck or not. You can guess what letter I skipped. Then for shirt he would leave out the r. "put on my shi_ mommy!" Ahhh... memories...
haha! I will now remember not to teach Hailey that song!! GOOD JOB! And LOVE the "dress up" shoes. Hailey will no longer use her dress up shoes with her dresses she needs mine... AHHHHHH!
LOL, awwwwww. I remember babysitting a lil boy awhile back that said the same slip of the fire truck too!! So innocent, had to giggle trying to tell the right way...too little to understand and continued saying it until he had a better understanding in language as a whole. Tana is just precious!! =)
That's funny, hey no worries my kids cuss like sailors. Have a happy 4th!
welcome home from hawaii!! When i come home from trips the entire next week i sit around thinking ... today was the day i was getting ready for my trip. today was the day i sat by the pool and relaxed while clothed men flocked to me with pineapple, until i hit the day where... today is the day we left paradise... i'm sure it's nice to be home to see the princess, but man! i sure do hate the anti climatic feeling i get from it too!
